DESIGN BUILD FOR THE REPAIR OF WELLESLEY ISLAND BORDER PATROL STATION AND SITE IMPROVEMENTS

Contract Description

Client: United States Customs & Border Protection

Location: Wellesley Island, NY

Contract Value: $662,479

CCI Company:

CCI Utility and Construction Services, LLC

CCI-UCS’s scope on this design-build project included multiple tasks including removing an existing oil-fired boiler and water heater, two oil tanks, and related appurtenances. These systems were replaced with one new high-efficiency water heater and two new high-efficiency, propane-fired boilers. We also installed a new monument sign, restored the paved drive and parking areas, performed removal and in-kind replacement of hand-hewn hardwood flooring, and installed some smoke detectors. Since the Border Patrol Station and grounds have been determined eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places the Customs and Border Protection was required to obtain approval from the New York State Division for Historic Preservation Office (NYSHPO) for the structural repairs of the 1st-floor subflooring system and new exterior monument sign before any repair or new construction work could be done to the building and site improvements.
